I would like to include photos of each of these species on this page. If you have any photos that I can use, please e-mail them to me at I would like to acquire examples of all plumages (adult, young, male, female) so please help me out with this by submittng photos or approving me to use any that you have already posted to other birding listservs or forums.  Thank you.


The following species have been recorded in Florida:


  •     Ruby-throated Hummingbird

  •     Black-chinned Hummingbird

  •     Rufous Hummingbird

  •     Allen's Hummingbird

  •     Calliope Hummingbird

  •     Broad-tailed Hummingbird

  •     Buff-bellied Hummingbird

  •     Broad-billed Hummingbird

  •     Anna's Hummingbird

  •     White-eared Hummingbird

  •     Bahama Woodstar

  •     Cuban Emerald (Very reliable sight records but lack official documentation)


The following species are likely candidates for eventually being found in Florida and need to be considered when identifying any unusal hummingbird reports. Included are the states where they have been reported:


  •     Green Violet Ear – Alabama, Georgia

  •     Green-Breasted Mango –North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin

  •     Costa’s Hummingbird - Alabama

  •     Blue-throated Hummingbird – Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina

  •     Magnificent Hummingbird – Alabama, Georgia
